Couldn't agree more Ty, There is an obvious unwritten rule being implemented by the NHL that is directing the referees to NOT allow a fight to happen, it's complete Bullsh*t and everyone knows it That fight last night could have really gotten a player hurt, This needs to be a Topic on everyone's discussion board here.
This is non-fighting crowd getting their way and it is starting to hurt this game.

Here! Here!

I could not believe the officials did not let McQuaid and Anderson fight at the BOS-CBJ game, and as a CBJ fan the I thought then it was dumb luck one of those two were not hurt by how the officials stepped in.

That video is awful, and the PA needs to have some time with the league to talk about this. If you want hockey to be a free-flowing game with hitting then you need to allow the players to police themselves at times, if you don't it will be open season on players that you want to have play and be healthy.

Nice blog, and sadly the officials made an even bigger mistake in the Buffalo game than they did in the CBJ game. Sorry to see it.

It's really wasn't that bad but I get your point.
Dog shyte move by the linesman. The potential for someone to be injured escalates when one can't defend himself.

All to quick to call bs when he left the bench to do one thing that's why the ref wouldn't let it happen. He should have ended up with a game misconduct. Also the hit was not illegal was shoulder to chest. You Boston fans are just angery you don't have anyone in the discipline department any more to turn a blind eye for illegal hits. CHARA also what about the spear from Marchand on franson in the first period????

Unfortunately it appears carrier won't be playing tomorrow (don't think it was a head shot but he definitely knew backes was in a vulnerable spot). It appears backes was a main attraction for a handful of sabres players. I'm willing to bet kevan miller dances with kane tomorrow they've been yapping back and forth for 2 games now, and hoping its a reenactment of the zack smith a couple of years ago. Here's to the ice being covered in red tomorrow!

I would have fully supported McQuaid beating the ref senseless. If this is how things are going to happen, the nhl is continuing to show how inept they are as a league.

This is Gary Bettman Hockey!!! I cannot wait until someone gets killed because of the stupid hits to the head and the dumb Refs who interfere. First had the A**hole Bettman permanently suppended Burtuzzi after the Moore hit, this stuff would never happen, ask John Scott, Kelly Chase, or Bob Plager, let a policeman lilke the old days fight it out and it's over. Someone will get killed out their and I hope Gary Bettman cannot sleep the rest of his life for what he's done!!!

Carrier won't play today due to the hand injury above. Good to see some hate back between these teams.

Bravo to the quick thinking refs for extinguishing McQuaid before he goes all out goon mode and embarrasses himself.

If he can't hold his own against a lightweight like carrier, he really needs to rethink what he brings to his team. No excuses this time.

all in favor of getting rid of the instigator rule.. say I...

hate both teams but really the refs blew it. let them fight and get it over with. Now the next game will be a blood bath. I feel sorry for the refs assigned to that game. What a disgrace.

Pretty sure it's been mandated to curb fighting. Pretty obvious the past 2 years.

Yeah, hold his own. And hold two refs on him as well.

You might be the dumbest person on the forum. Congrats for achieving something in your meidiocre life.

McQuaid goes and runs Carrier, instigates a fight after the whistle and gets thumped by a dude 5 inches shorter and 50 lbs lighter, and a thousand homers sound off.

When we can take off the yellow goggles we might be surprised why the rest of the hockey world knows the Bruins are a joke with papa Campbell and the blind eye all those years.

The ref that was "restraining" carrier was the same linesman that prevented mcquaid from fighting 2 nights prior, hopefully a different crew today

Tell carrier if he's too small to defend himself to play clean. That's the problem with the NHL is 5 foot nothing upstarts dealing dirty hits without retribution. Let's hope he can't hide behind the linesman's skirt next time.

Where was the dirty hit?? Like Boston has any room to take with dirty hits they are the ones who got away with everything when the employed the discipline department. Lol

William Carrier - 6'2" - 212 lbs.
Adam McQuaid - 6'4" - 212 lbs.

Carrier gives up 2"... not nearly as big of a difference as you're making it out to be.

Fact is that was a cheap shot by Carrier on Backes... he should own up to it and get it over with. McQuaid was looking to settle it, and the refs jumped in like tools. And you're just butt-hurt Boston wins everything and Buffalo doesn't... see the 4-2 comeback against your basement dwelling Sabres. Hate us cause they ain't us.
